Built to Sell Inc. (“Built to Sell“, “we“, “us“, or “our“) is committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of the personal information we obtain from you when you access and use our products, services, and websites, including: ValueBuilder.com, BuiltToSell.com, ValueBuilderSystem.com, and our private and/or white label versions of the same (collectively, our “Sites“), or interact with any of our social media accounts, including on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn and X (collectively, the “Services“).
This privacy policy (this “Policy“) is intended to give you a clear explanation of our privacy practices, the types of personal information we collect, how that information may be used or shared, and the choices available to you. Our employees and contractors who handle personal information on our behalf are required to follow this Policy.
For the purposes of this Policy, “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, which includes information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact or locate a single person.

ACCEPTANCE OF THIS POLICY
By providing us with your personal information, accessing our Sites, or using our Services, you signify your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Policy.
We may update this policy from time to time by posting a revised Policy on our Sites. We encourage you to check our Sites periodically to review our current Policy. You can tell if this Policy has changed by checking the “Last Updated” date that appears at the top of this Policy. In certain circumstances, we may also notify you electronically that this Policy was changed. If you continue to access or use our Services after this Policy has changed or notice of the change has been given, you will be deemed to have accepted such changes.

APPLICATION OF POLICY
This Policy applies to all personal information we collect, use and disclose in connection with our Services. This Policy applies where we collect personal information, however accessed and/or used, whether via personal computers, mobile devices, verbally or otherwise provided to us directly by you or another authorized party.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT
Wherever possible, we limit the amount of information we collect, use or disclose to information that is necessary and appropriate to more efficiently operate our business. We may collect the following information from you through our Sites, by phone, email, in person, and by other means in the following contexts:
Directly From You: When you share personal information with us, such as through accessing our Services, uploading or submitting information by email or through our Sites, making a complaint, or contacting us to obtain our Services, including by email or over the phone, you may voluntarily provide us with certain personal information. For example, if you sign up for our Services as an advisor, we collect your name, email, company name, phone number, profession, and billing information. If you are a business owner and wish to access our Sites, we may collect your name, email, company name, phone number, address, and business financial information submitted through questionnaires and/or assessments (e.g., revenue, profitability, industry).
Surveys and Feedback Forms: From time to time, we may invite you to complete optional surveys, questionnaires or feedback forms. If you participate, we may collect the information you choose to submit to better understand user needs, improve our offerings, and evaluate customer experience.
Downloads and Other Forms: We also collect information that you provide when you complete forms on our Sites, including when you request a brochure (such as The Value Builder Brochure), report, guide, demo, newsletter, or other resource. Depending on the form, this information may include your name, business email, company name, business phone number, profession, and other information relevant to your request.
Automated Collection: When you use our Sites, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage information through cookies, pixels, log files and similar technologies. This information helps us operate our Sites, understand usage patterns, improve functionality, and support analytics, marketing and advertising activities, as described further below under “Use of Cookies.”
Electronic Communications: If you sign up for e-mail, text, “SMS” or other electronic communications, we collect and use the information that you provide to us in accordance with this Policy.
Support Services: If you contact us for support or with a question, we may collect your name, contact details, account information, and the contents of your request or correspondence so that we can respond, troubleshoot, and maintain appropriate records of the interaction.
OBTAINING CONSENT
We obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose your information in accordance with applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, consent may be express or implied and may be given in writing, electronically, verbally, or through your conduct, including where you voluntarily choose to use certain parts of our Services.
If you wish to refuse, alter or withdraw your consent to certain of the identified purposes, you may do so at any time (subject to legal and contractual requirements, reasonable notice, and any applicable laws) by contacting our Privacy Officer (see end of this Policy for contact information). The period of reasonable notice will vary depending on the nature of the information and its purpose.
By providing us or our service providers with personal information of another individual, you represent and warrant that you have all necessary authority and/or have obtained all necessary consents from such person to enable us to collect, use and disclose such information for the purposes set forth in this Policy. If you are an advisor providing us with information on business owners, you agree that you will only provide us with such information after you have obtained all necessary consents for the collection, use and disclosure of such information.
If we collect your personal information for an identified purpose, and we later need to use that information for a different purpose, we will seek your consent prior to doing so.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We may use personal information to:
- assist us with providing you with our Services and a positive and secure experience on our Sites;
- to generate and deliver reports, scores, assessments and other outputs that you request based on information you provide, such as the Value Builder Score and Sellability Score;
- to deliver automated email sequences and communications on behalf of your advisor as part of the Services (e.g., the Nurture Cycle);
- to support advisor certification and training programs, including tracking completion of the Accredited Value GuideTM certification;
- understand your needs to determine the suitability of our Services for you;
- communicate with you for purposes of providing the Services or to respond to any of your requests;
- inform you about our new services and other important information regarding our Services;
- to manage and administer our business, improve the design of our Sites, enforce contractual rights, comply with legal, regulatory and professional obligations, and protect the security and integrity of our Sites and Services;
- fulfill the purposes for which you provided the information or that were described when it was collected; and
- for any other purpose permitted or required by law, or with your consent.
SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
We may share personal information internally with team members who need that information to provide Services, support users, operate the business, or carry out the purposes described in this Policy.
We may also disclose personal information in the following circumstances, where appropriate and in accordance with applicable law:
- if you are a business owner and a licensed Value Builder System™ Professional Advisor has requested information from you which you have voluntarily uploaded onto our Sites, this information will be shared with the applicable Value Builder System™ Professional Advisor and such advisor’s organization. Value Builder System™ Professional Advisors are third parties that have agreed to keep your information confidential;
- with our service providers that assist us with hosting, analytics, marketing, communications, customer support, payment processing, technology infrastructure, document storage, or other business functions;
- to third parties where you request or authorize us to share your information, including in connection with advisor relationships or other service arrangements;
- with our financial, insurance, legal, accounting or other advisors that provide professional services to us;
- when necessary to comply with court orders, regulatory rules, or to satisfy our insurance requirements; and
- in connection with a business transaction involving Built to Sell.
Where we use third-party service providers to process personal information on our behalf, we require them by contract or other appropriate means to protect that information and to use it only for the services they provide to us.
If we disclose your personal information in connection with a business transaction for the sale of Built to Sell or its assets, we may disclose personal information, including Employee Personal Information (described below), only as necessary in connection with the transaction, and provided that the party receiving the personal information is bound by an agreement to only use or disclose the personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, used or disclosed by Built to Sell.
Some of our service providers may process, store or access personal information outside of Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions. As a result, personal information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable law.
RETENTION, STORAGE AND SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION
We will only retain your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to comply with applicable laws, and for reasonable backup, audit, or similar purposes. When your personal information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, and retention is no longer required for legal or business purposes, we will destroy records containing your personal information, or remove the means by which that personal information can be associated with you. Under some circumstances we may anonymize your personal information so that it can no longer be associated with you. We reserve the right to use such anonymous and de-identified data for any legitimate business purpose without further notice to you or your consent.
We use physical, administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. These safeguards are intended to reflect the sensitivity of the information in our custody. Although we do our best to ensure your information is protected, no method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. Sharing personal information carries a risk that it may be lost, intercepted or misused. We do not warrant the integrity or security of any electronic communications between us and you.
In the event of a breach of security safeguards involving personal information under our control, we will assess the risk of harm and, where required, notify affected individuals as soon as reasonably possible. Notification will include a description of the incident, the date of the incident, the type of information involved, our analysis of how it was compromised, and the steps we have taken to mitigate the impact. We will also notify applicable regulatory authorities where required by law.
YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
It is important to us that your personal information is accurate and current, and we respect the rights you have with respect to your personal information. At any time you may contact us to:
- request access to your personal information and to obtain a copy of it;
- request information about the ways in which we are using your personal information, and the names of the individuals and organizations to whom your personal information has been disclosed;
- unsubscribe from our email communications or promotional materials;
- request a correction of your personal information in the event we hold incomplete or inaccurate information about you;
- withdraw your consent for our use and disclosure of your personal information;
- request that we provide you with your personal information and, if possible, to pass on this information directly (in a portable format) to another data controller when the processing is based on consent or contract;
- request a restriction on further processing of personal information, in case there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal information; or
- object to the processing of personal information, in case processing of that personal information has been based on legitimate interest and/or direct marketing.
On reasonable notice to us, you are generally permitted to withdraw your consent, however, there may be times where legal or contractual restrictions require us to use or retain your personal information for a certain period. If this is the case, we will advise you, and your personal information will not be used or disclosed without your consent unless we are required to do so for legal or regulatory purposes.
When requesting a copy of your personal information, it will be provided to you in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
We will use your information as may be required to provide you with our Services, and to the extent that we are contractually obligated to do so or as necessary to enforce any contractual obligations you may have with us. If you choose to not provide us with the information we require or later contact us to withdraw your consent to use and disclose this information, we may no longer be able to provide you with our Services.
When making a request, we may require you to provide sufficient personal information so that we may identify you. If you are unable to provide sufficient information to verify your identity, we reserve the right to refuse to send you any personal information.
CHOICE AND OPT-OUT PREFERENCES
You may receive email communications from us. You will have the ability to unsubscribe from marketing communications by means of a link provided in any such emails that are sent to you by us. Any email opt-out shall not apply to emails permitted by applicable law, such as messages relating to any transaction you have requested or your relationship with us.

BEING DENIED ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Your right to access personal information is not absolute. In some circumstances, we may be permitted or required by law to refuse access, including where doing so would reveal personal information about another person, interfere with legal proceedings, prejudice investigations, reveal confidential commercial information, or where the request is frivolous or vexatious. If we refuse a request, we will explain the basis for the refusal where required by law.
USE OF COOKIES
Our Sites use cookies, pixels, log files and similar technologies for operational purposes, to remember user preferences, to understand how visitors engage with our content, and to improve the performance and effectiveness of our Services. These technologies may include strictly necessary technologies required for core site functionality, analytics technologies that help us understand site traffic and usage (such as Google Analytics), social media functionality (such as Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X), and advertising or marketing technologies that help us measure campaigns and deliver more relevant communications (such as HubSpot, Google Ads, AdRoll, and RollWorks). Some cookies are placed by third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf. These third parties may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third parties for more information.
You can usually manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Please note, however, that disabling certain cookies or similar technologies may affect the functionality of parts of our Sites.
We may also collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring URLs, pages visited, session activity, and similar usage information for security, analytics and site administration purposes.
LINKS TO OTHER SITES
Our Sites may contain links to third-party websites, platforms or tools that are not operated by us. We provide those links for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information to them.
CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION
Our Sites are not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect or use any information from any children under the age of 18 through our Sites. If we become aware that, based on our Sites tracking, we have unknowingly collected personal information from a child under the age of 18, we will make commercially reasonably efforts to delete such personal information from our database.
EMPLOYEES
This policy applies to personal information that is collected, used or disclosed solely for the purposes reasonably required to establish, manage or terminate the employment relationship between you and Built to Sell (“Employee Personal Information”). In this case, “employee” includes volunteers. Employee Personal information does not include your business contact information, or information prepared or collected by you, whether alone or in conjunction with others, as part of your employment-related responsibilities or activities.
Unless expressly permitted by law or it is necessary to do so for the purposes of establishing, managing or terminating your employment relationship with Built to Sell, Built to Sell will not collect, use or disclose your Employee Personal Information without your consent. If it is necessary to collect, use or disclose your Employee Personal Information without your consent, unless otherwise permitted by applicable law, we will notify you and inform you of the purposes for which the information will be collected, used or disclosed prior to doing so.
